A Realistic Guide to Planning Your Bridal Hair and Makeup
Wedding prep can feel overwhelming. This guide breaks down the timeline, trial runs, and what to actually discuss with your stylist so your wedding morning goes smoothly.
Start Earlier Than You Think You Need To
Most brides underestimate how much runway they need for beauty prep. Ideally, you want to book your salon at least three to six months before your wedding date — not just to secure the appointment, but to give yourself enough time for trials, adjustments, and any treatments that take multiple sessions to work.
The Importance of a Trial Run
A trial is not optional — it is necessary. You want to see the full look, ideally in natural daylight, at least four to six weeks before the wedding. This gives you time to request changes or try a completely different direction without any pressure. Take photos during the trial, in different lighting if possible.
What to Bring and Discuss at Your Trial
Bring reference photos, but be open about what specifically you like in them — the soft waves, the placement of the veil, the finish of the skin. Bring your veil, headpiece, and any hair accessories you plan to wear. Tell your stylist your timeline for the wedding morning, how long the event runs, and whether you will be in a humid or outdoor environment.
Skincare in the Lead-Up
The month before your wedding is not the time to try new skincare products. Stick to what you know works. Focus on hydration, good sleep, and SPF. If you want to do any facials or treatments, have them completed at least two weeks before the big day.
We work with brides regularly and know how to make the morning calm and efficient. If you are planning your wedding, reach out early — we would love to be part of your day.
